5 Spooktacular Ways To Celebrate Halloween Around Mt. Pleasant

temp-post-image

Wow, can you believe that it is already time to get ready for Halloween?!

One of my favorite things about living and raising a family in Mount Pleasant is that there are always fun and cool ways to celebrate all of the major holidays. More importantly, there are tons of fun ways to celebrate together as a family and create those memories that you will be able to look back on and cherish for decades. Since I know many of you are new to town after I helped you buy a house and relocate to Mount Pleasant I am sharing some insider tips on how to celebrate Halloween around Mount Pleasant.

1. Hit A Haunted House

Nothing says Halloween quite like a haunted house! If you are feeling brave, being that we live in a very historic part of the country, it isn’t hard to find a haunted house or site that is known to be haunted. However, if you still aren't comfortable attending such sites due to the pandemic, it can also be a ton of fun to create your own haunted house right at home.

2. Visit The Boone Hall Pumpkin Patch & Drive-Through Halloween Trail & Corn Maze

Boone Hall is hands down one of the most popular attractions for families in search of festive fun this time of year! In fact, you can spend an entire afternoon with the kids enjoying all of their Autumn and Halloween-themed activities. They have a wonderful pumpkin patch where the kids can run around to find that perfect pumpkin for carving and an awesome corn maze to get lost in. Boone Hall has also been sponsoring a Fright Night series for years which serves as a haunted house type attraction. Last year they made adjustments for safety concerns with the pandemic and if need be they will do so again to ensure everyone can enjoy themselves in a safe manner.

3. Watch A Halloween-Themed Movie At Woodland Nature Reserve Drive-In

One event that is definitely safe and easy to practice social distancing if you wish is to attend the drive-in movies at Woodland Nature Reserve. I actually love the idea of making more of an afternoon/evening out of this. Maybe start by going for a fun nature walk while the sun is still up, followed by a family picnic for dinner, and then end the evening by watching the movie.

4. Go Pumpkin Picking At A Local Farm Or Pumpkin Patch

As parents, you just can’t miss out on the chance to take the kids to the local pumpkin patch. Not only is it a great way for them to burn off some serious energy but it allows you the chance to support our local farmers who not only need it but deserve it. In addition to pumpkin picking, many of them also have other themed activities and a variety of delicious treats like cider and pumpkin spice donuts to get you in the mood for the holiday.

5. Attend The Trick Or Treat Tours

Although many still do, not everyone wants to walk around the neighborhood to trick or treat. These days, there are much safer and more organized ways for kids to show off their costumes and collect heaps of all their favorite candy. Throughout the city and the week leading up to Halloween, there are trick or treat tours and events designed to keep kids safe while having a blast and I highly encourage you to check them out.
