It is common knowledge that most people prefer to move in the Summer. Not only do people like to move in the Summer because the weather is nice but parents often think it will be easier because the kids will be off from school. In fact, many people schedule an entire move or wait to buy a house until the Spring and Summer for this reason.
So you may be sitting there wondering if it is simply too late (or early) in the school year for you and your family to move to paradise in Mount Pleasant. I understand where you are coming from with these concerns but that theory that you should only move during the Summer months can be very damaging to your family.
In today’s post, I am addressing the age-old question of real estate; when is the best time to buy or sell. More specifically, is it too late in the year for your family to move to Mount Pleasant?
The Financial Implications Are Most Important
I will not ever deny that when and where you move has emotional and mental implications for the members of your family. However, when it comes to buying and selling real estate you always have to think with your business brain first and your emotions last. At the end of the day these are the largest financial decisions you will be making and they could truly financially make or break your family so you need to always approach a real estate purchase or sale from a logical perspective.
Will Your Children Need To Move Schools?
Moving is stressful no matter what. So if you are terrified that the added stress and chaos of moving will completely torpedo your kid’s academic performance, then it is worth weighing that. However, if you are moving such a short distance that your kids won’t even need to move schools, it really shouldn’t be such a major priority. As long as you set up your kids’ bedrooms so they have a good place to sleep and study from day one in the new house, things should fall into place.
There Is No “Best” Time To Move
People are always asking when is the best time to buy or sell. The thing is...there isn’t a perfect time. As you have always heard, the goal is to buy low and sell high. But ultimately, you and your family are the only ones that can decide when the best time to move is once you have had an agent like myself provide you with all of the information you need to make it an educated decision.
